Kranpunkten offers emission-free machine transport in Swedens metropolitan regions
In its efforts towards a climate-neutral operation by 2030, Kranpunkten has so far converted 86% of its fleet to hybrid and electric machines and vehicles. Additional measures include efforts around the transportation of machines, the part of the business model where the environmental impact is greatest. A few years ago, Kranpunkten set a goal that 80% of transports should be carried out with HVO100 as fuel. The focus has also been on offering customers in metropolitan areas a completely electric option: a rental machine that is powered and charged with green electricity and transported silently and completely emission-free to and from the customer's workplace.
Through close cooperation with logistics partners, three electric trucks have now been put into operation. With Swerock as a partner, one truck was commissioned in Gothenburg and one in Malmö during 2022 and 2023. The third and most recent truck operates in Stockholm-Mälardalen since the end of 2024 and is a result of the collaboration between Kranpunkten and JB Bilbärgning.
- The trucks are charged with green electricity at Kranpunkten's depots, and our logistics partners then perform all transportations to and from customers' projects in the three metropolitan regions. The introduction of electric trucks into our fleet is an important piece of Kranpunkten's environmental work and at the same time a valuable support to our customers in their pursuit of sustainability in their projects, says Rikard Jönsson, Purchasing Manager at Kranpunkten.
The new electric trucks are of the latest models from Volvo and Scania, with a range of up to 600 km. They are tailored to efficiently transport machines, which optimizes their load capacity. Thanks to zero emissions and low noise levels, the trucks meet the strict environmental requirements that apply in sensitive areas. This reduces disturbances to the surroundings and simultaneously improves the environment for the driver. Overall, the electric trucks are an ideal solution for sustainable transportation of Kranpunkten's rental machines.
